Land Clearing & Tree Removal in North Georgia
Selective land clearing, brush mulching, stump grinding and lot clearing for acreage in Cherokee, Forsyth, Dawson and Pickens County.
Clearing is the first irreversible decision on a piece of land. Once a hardwood is down it does not come back in your lifetime, and once a slope is stripped it starts moving the next time it rains. We walk the property with you, mark what stays, and clear only what the plan actually requires.
Part of our Land Development & Site Work in North Georgia work across North Georgia.
What we see most often
- Full clear-cutting that removes the mature trees you bought the land for
- Stumps and debris buried on site, then settling under a future pad
- Bare slopes left through a rainy season with no cover or silt control
- Cleared ground that turns into brush again within two seasons
Scope of work
What this work includes
Walk-through & marking
We flag keeper trees, view corridors, building envelopes and drainage ways before any equipment is on the ground.
Selective & full clearing
Mulching, brush removal, understory thinning or full clearing sized to what the property plan needs, not to what is easiest to run.
Stump & debris handling
Grinding, hauling or permitted burning — debris is removed from anywhere a structure, drive or pasture is planned.
Stabilization & seeding
Rough grading, silt fence, matting and cover seeding so cleared ground is stable before the next heavy rain.
Usable, stable ground where you want it — and the trees you actually wanted still standing.
How it goes
Our process
- Step 01
Site walk
We read topography, soils, drainage and tree quality on foot.
- Step 02
Clearing plan
Marked limits, keeper trees and access routes agreed in writing.
- Step 03
Clearing & cleanup
Machine work staged so debris never crosses finished ground.
- Step 04
Stabilize
Grade, seed and protect exposed soil before demobilizing.
Common questions
Land Clearing questions we get
- How much does land clearing cost per acre in North Georgia?
- It depends far more on what is growing than on acreage. Light brush and understory runs a fraction of what heavily wooded, steep or rocky ground costs, and stump removal and debris hauling are usually the largest line items. We price after walking the site so the number reflects your terrain rather than an average.
- Should I clear the whole property or just part of it?
- Almost always just part of it. Mature canopy holds soil, shades pasture and is the hardest thing on the property to replace. We clear the building envelope, access, and usable field area, then thin selectively for views.
- Do I need a permit to clear land in Georgia?
- Land-disturbing activity above a set threshold generally requires a permit and erosion control measures, and requirements vary by county and by proximity to a stream. We confirm local requirements before work starts and install the required controls.
- What happens to the trees and debris?
- Merchantable timber can sometimes be sold, larger wood can be milled or kept for firewood, and the rest is mulched, hauled or burned where permitted. We agree on this before the first day.
