Farm Gates & Automated Gate Installation in North Georgia
Farm gates, estate entry gates, openers, keypads and safety loops installed on posts set to swing free year after year.
A gate is where fencing fails first. It carries the most load, gets used the most, and usually sits in the muddiest spot on the property. Hanging it on a properly braced post over drained ground is what separates a gate from an annoyance.
Part of our Farm & Estate Fencing, Gates and Entries in North Georgia work across North Georgia.
What we see most often
- Gates dragging because the hinge post has leaned
- Gate openings that flood and turn to deep mud
- Automated gates installed with no safety loop or manual release
- Openings too narrow for a tractor, trailer or delivery truck
Scope of work
What this work includes
Opening sizing & placement
Widths set for the equipment that has to pass, positioned where traffic naturally flows and on high ground.
Hinge post & bracing
Oversized, deep-set, braced hinge posts — the single component that determines whether a gate sags.
Pads & drainage
Stone or concrete pads with geotextile at the opening so the swing arc stays firm through the wet season.
Automation
Swing or slide operators, keypads, intercoms, safety loops, solar or wired power, and a manual release that works in an outage.
Gates that open with one hand, over ground that stays firm all winter.
How it goes
Our process
- Step 01
Locate
Pick the opening for traffic flow and drainage, not convenience.
- Step 02
Set & brace
Deep hinge post with a brace assembly sized for the load.
- Step 03
Pad
Stone the swing arc and approach before hanging.
- Step 04
Hang & automate
Level hang, hardware, then operator and controls.
Common questions
Gates & Automation questions we get
- How wide should a farm gate be?
- Twelve feet handles most tractors and trucks; sixteen feet is safer for hay equipment and gooseneck trailers. Pasture gates for animals can be narrower, but equipment access should not be.
- Why does my gate drag?
- Almost always the hinge post moving, not the gate itself. Correcting it means resetting a deeper, braced post — shimming the hinges only postpones the problem.
- Do automated gates work during a power outage?
- They should. Every operator we install includes a manual release, and solar or battery backup is available where an outage would strand you.
- Can a gate be added to existing fence?
- Yes, though it usually means installing a new braced hinge post rather than hanging off an existing line post.
